We are thrilled by the overwhelming interest in this year’s summer school, with more than 70 students registered. We eagerly anticipate the arrival of such a diverse and dynamic group.
For those staying at St Mary’s Guesthouse, please contact them at gostinjac@benediktinke-zadar.com or martapbenedikt@gmail.com to confirm your arrival and departure dates and provide your contact details. Remember, the guesthouse is managed by the Benedictine nuns of St Mary’s. They offer professional service, but it’s important to note that it’s not a hotel with a 24/7 reception.
We advise other participants to arrange their accommodations soon, as Zadar becomes a popular tourist destination in August and September. Try to find a place near the JoSSIS venue in Zadar Old Town for convenience.
Zadar is accessible by plane, train, bus, or car. Check the Zadar Airport website and their official route map for more details. Flight prices are reasonable; for example, EasyJet offers flights from Basel to Zadar or Split, and RyanAir from Memmingen to Zadar. You can also reach Zadar via Split or Zagreb Airport and then take a bus to the city.
For any questions about travel and accommodations, reach out to us at jossis@unizd.hr. We’ll soon launch a communication channel for all participants to coordinate effectively.
The organising committee and course lecturers will provide further information, like the detailed summer school programme and course specifics, in due course.
We look forward to meeting you in Zadar.
Warm regards,
Sabrina Lindau, on behalf of the JoSSIS 2024 Organising committee
